1000 people for 1000 dreams with Mary-Lou

You have been more than one thousand, sunday november 9th in Plozevet (Finistère), to celebrate with us the election of Barack Obama. THANK YOU YOUR SUPPORT. Your messages of kindness and hope have touched us in our hearts. Now, we want to say to all the volunteers, all the musicians (Paul Conibear,
Lonesome Day, Brendan De Roeck et David Chevalier (from the Dizzy Town Blues Band), Dominique Adelin, Chakidor), to the town of Plozevet, to our friends Pierrot Bosser, Président of the Festival Mondial Folk, Hugues Stephan, General Manager of the Avel Dro and Gail and Gail and Tom Watts, in North Carolina, who answered our qustions about the election, to the medias that supported us, and to all the others, who will recognize themselves, from deep in our heart, a hudge THAN YOU !
Let the musicians who couldn't play because of the timing forgive us.
All the pictures (of Jacques Goascoz and Jocelyn Lecocq) are available in the photograph book left column, or on this link.

The circle can't be broken

The people who were in Plozevet last sunday for our great OBAMA PARTY heard a phone conversation about the election with our friends in North Carolina. Here's the mail then sent to us.

Bonsoir J-L and Mary,

That was sooooooooooooooooo much fun today to talk with you and we hope we answered your questions. The connection was not clear, so it was very hard to understand. Perhaps the airways were busy today. But still, what a wonderful thing to have so many friends and other French around celebrating the Obama victory. We are touched and thankful for your leadership in getting the day together. We have told many, many of our friends about your celebration and every person was thrilled to know about it and appreciated the support for Obama. As we have said, practically all of our friends and family supported Obama and they have all heard us talk of the warmth of the French in general and of the warmth of our friends there in particular. Again, thanks for being Jean-Luc and Mary and for your love and support. It means much.

Cela signifie beaucoup.

We and our friends support Barack Obama

SUPPORT TO BARACK OBAMA

barack_obamaFor the first time in the USA story, a camdidate campain is supported only by the momey of the people. No lobby, no industrial, no financial gift.
As non american, we can't directly help . Hopefully, our friend Panama Red, american songwriter that maybe you already know has decided to give back any cent you will spend to buy one of his cds to Obama's campain. It is the moment to do something. Help to make the American Dream come back.

Mary-Lou at the European Bluegrass Festival of La Roche sur Foron

Let's take some time to talk about a wonderful festival : The European Bluegrass Festival of La Roche sur Foron (74), organized by Christopher Howard-Williams and a steam of 150 volunteers, with the help of private and public organisations.
la_rocheT_shirt_festivalMary___annecy

32 bands from European countries were meeting the 1st week-end of august to play on stage, and jam until morning. The music was the heart of this festival, but it also was a very special human adventure allowing each one to meet musicians from Russia, Great Britain, Swede, Tchequia, Slovaquia, Germany, Hollande, Italie, and, of course, France. Many friends of ours were there. Jean-Paul and marion, from Lonesome Day, Jacques Bremond, le boss of "Le Cri du Coyote", the best french magazine about Americana, Jean-Pierre and Jean met in USA (thank you Gail, Tom and François), Christian Labonne from Mary & Co, Jacques et Michèle, our producers, and many others.

We were proud and honored to be invited at this festival. If we don't really play bluegrass, we are much respectfull about this music. We feel in the Americana stream, that's why we go prtty often to the Merlefest in North Carolina. The audience was very quiet and respected music. The only times we decided to go to town have a drink were when the line dancers shaking their boots on techno/country counting out of time. It was too much for our musician ears. We are happy to give you to links of most of the bands who were there.

The Doc joins Mary-Lou on stage

Friday 18 of july at 9, at the camping des 2 Fontaines in Névez, our friend Rob (The Doc) Dokter joined us on stage a few amotionnal songs.
The_Doc_et_Mary_Lou_6The Doc, dutch singer and guitar player, is not only a friend, but also a very good musician.
He's a great songwriter with a warm voice, and he sometimes has been compared to Neil Young.
